CYP Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioner

Job summary

We are incredibly excited to be a further part of this ambitious national programme which aims to give increased mental health provision to schools within Wirral. We now have a vacancy for one trainee Education Mental Health practitioner in Wave 13 which will be starting in September 2025.The Wave 13 trainee EMHP will be based in Wirral covering schools in the area and accessing their training at Prestwich University, part of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust.

Demand for these places is expected to be high and the advert is only live for 1 week. With this in mind it is important to get the balance of submitting your application promptly but making sure you highlight your qualities, experience and knowledge within the application to make you stand out over the other applicants.Access to transport for work purposes is essential .

Main duties of the job

Wave 13 EMHP trainees will be accessing their training at Prestwich University, part of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust with all the teams based in Wirral and covering Wirral Schools.The training all trainees will be accessing is a 12 month Post Graduate Diploma that is based on a national curriculum. Typically, trainees will be at university two days a week with the other three days being in service, some of the teaching days may well be accessed remotely or via online platforms.

This is essentially a permanent contract, however is dependent on successful completion of the course at the end of year 1. Qualified practitioners will then become band 5 Educational Mental Health Practitioners in a permanent position.

Essential

  • Evidence of study at level 5
  • Evidence of numeracy and literacy qualifications - If you do not have a level 6 undergraduate level or eqivalent, you will be asked to produce a piece of work prior to training confirmation, showing that you are able to work at level 6 or above.
