This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Learning Disability service within our East Cheshire Community Learning Disability Team, Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The post is 0.6 fte, 22.5hrs per week.

This post is suitable for a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist, or a Speech and Language Therapist with more experience.

As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist you will be working within a multi-disciplinary community learning disability team. This role will involve working with adults with a diagnosed learning disability who may also have a diagnosis of other Neurodevelopmental disorders, and/or additional mental health support needs.

You will provide evidence based speech and language therapy assessment, treatment and intervention to service users around supporting their communication needs. There may also be the opportunity for supporting with/assessing eating and drinking difficulties dependent upon experience, relevant support and training will be provided for this.

Main duties of the job

As a community post clinical interventions are provided in a variety of different settings including service user homes, day services and supported living environments. This will require the clinician to travel across the East Cheshire CLDT footprint on a regular basis.

You will work alongside more experienced SLTs to consolidate and develop your skills. If completing your Newly Qualified Competencies full support will be given.

You will be working within a supportive multi-disciplinary team who have person centred care at the forfront of everything they do.

The East Community Learning Disability Team has two bases, Rosemount site in Macclesfield and Catherine House in Crewe, feel free to discuss location of base options.

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing training and personal development (Band 5)
