Job summary

The post-holder will provide general medical services in the out of hours period and deal with a wide range of health needs in the urgent care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

  • Join our GP team and receive a £10,000 retention payment after 12 months
  • Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) is offering a retention and relocation payment package for salaried GP posts.
  • Through the scheme, if your application is successful and you take up employment with CWP in a salaried GP post, you will receive a retention payment of £10,000 from us when you have been in post with us for 12 months.

  • We are also offering a separate relocation payment package of up to £8,000for anyone who would need to relocate in order to take up a role with CWP. This one-off payment will be awarded on a case-by-case basis.
  • To be eligible for the relocation payment, you must live more than 40 miles from the base/location of the post you are applying for and you would need to relocate to within 15 miles of the new base. Main duties of the job

1. Manage the medical requirements of patients who contact the service.2. Assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for the population of West Cheshire in the out of hours period.3. In accordance with the service rota as agreed, the post-holder will undertake clinical sessions at all bases including face-to-face appointments, telephone advice and visiting patients at home. Required shifts include evenings, weekends, night shifts and bank holidays. A minimum of working two weekends per month and 4 of the 8 bank holidays will be included in the rota. These duties should be performed in a timely manner using agreed protocols.4. Support clinical streaming within the A&E Department as rostered.5. Appointments will be 10 minutes duration and telephone advice will be offered as appropriate. A student or GP registrar maybe attached for these sessions.6. Undertake sessions in accordance with the access needs of the CCG population and the contractual obligation of the service.7. Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.8. Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice.9. Provide medical support as required to patients referred by nursing staff.10. Provide free certification in line with Schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992).

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training - CCT)
  • Currently on a CCG performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
  • DBS clearance
  • Have had an annual NHS appraisal
