Job summary

**We offer a relocation package of up to £8,000**

The relocation package is for anyone joining the Trust in a Clinical role who would need to relocate in order to take up employment with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership.

To be eligible for the relocation payment, you must live more than 40 miles from the base/location of the post you are applying for and you would need to relocate to within 15 miles of the new base.

Ancora House is a Tier 4 CAMHS service, specialising in the treatment of young people, aged from 13 through to their 18th birthday. The unit caters for young people who present with a range of severe, complex and enduring mental health problems, or acute risk management.

Ancora House comprises of 30 beds across 2 wards, Indigo and Coral. The post covers both wards, working alongside other Clinical Psychologists. Within the Tier 4 CAMHS service there is also a specialist Eating Disorder Service (CHEDS) and an Assessment Outreach/Home Base Team.

There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The work will include assessments and formulation, and short-term therapy when indicated, though this may entail a flexible informal approach as circumstances can be quite dynamic. Group work is also part of the role. There will also be potential involvement in supervision, audit, research and training activities.

This post requires an individual with initiative, excellent communication and leadership skills, and, ideally experience in working with young people in CAMHS services. The post-holder will need to show initiative and creativity; and be able to function well in a multi-disciplinary team.

We provide clinical supervision from a senior Clinical Psychologist, and support staff in seeking further relevant education and training in line with Supervison and Appraisals, thus providing excellent development opportunities.

The post-holder will be a qualified Clinical Psychologist, registered with the HCPC.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS and required by HCPC (or equivalent level approved by BPS/ HCPC).
  • HCPC registration and maintenance of registration.
  • Expertise and/or training in Clinical Supervision for doctorate level trainees (for band 8a) as may supervise trainee Clinical Psychologists.

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
  • Post-doctoral training in a specialised area of psychological practice.

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
