Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

CWP seeks an independent Non-Executive Director to join the Board in December 2023, and who will also be the Chair of the Audit Committee. This Committee ensures the long-term viability of the Trust and holds the executive team, and overall governance, to account for the appropriate monitoring of internal control, risk and reporting for the Board and Council of Governors.

The trust seeks someone who is financially qualified and professionally competent with strong governance and modern commercial experience in a patient or customer focused organisation. There is a requirement to be strategic, to contribute to organisational and digital transformation, development of new and innovative services and contracts, as well as having a keen eye for detail and willing to deep-dive when necessary, to obtain assurance that financial information is accurate and that controls and risk management systems are robust and kept up to date.

Experience of working with a high performing Audit Committee, at, or near, Board level or equivalent from either health, social care, public sector service, education, charity, social enterprise or commercial sectors is important for this role. There is also a need to demonstrate good chairing skills and an inclusive decision making style. Directors need to have a genuine commitment to patients, delivery of high quality care, appreciate the diverse communities and be passionate to make a positive difference to the lives of people in the Trust's community.

Main duties of the job

The time commitment is approximately four days to be worked flexibly across the month and the term of office is three years from date of appointment.

The Board of Directors is a unitary board and includes the Trust's Chair, Chief Executive Officer and six independent Non-Executive Directors, five voting Executive Directors and one non-voting Executive Director.

The Board works in partnership with the Council of Governors, to ensure compliance, constitution and contractual obligations. They are responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare services, the application of the standards of clinical and corporate governance, the effective, efficient and economic exercise of the Trust functions, and effective collaboration across the Integrated Care System and wider Partners.

This is an exciting time to join the Board to support their 5 year strategy - Imagining the Future - with focus on continuing to improve health and well-being through collaborative partnerships across the Integrated Care System and Places (aligned to local authorities) with transformation of services and managing resources collectively.
