Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated counsellor who is passionate and committed to offering proficient and effective counselling to clients accessing Central Cheshire Talking Therapies Service.

We value counselling and are ready to welcome counsellors who understand how to work with empathy, unconditional positive regard and acceptance and can demonstrate how they form safe, effective therapeutic relationships with clients to support them through the process to recovery.

We welcome applications from counsellors who are qualified supervisors.

Main duties of the job

The main presenting issues for clients suitable for counselling within ourservice are depression, loss and adjustment difficulties - if you are able toshare with us your skills, knowledge and competence at working with thisgroup of clients, then we will be interested in you joining our counselling team.

The successful candidate would also need to be able to demonstrate theirability to manage their own caseload, keep accurate notes, able to be flexible to the needs of clients and the team, providing us with examples of what you can bring to the team.

The role is challenging, exciting, demanding and, at times, stressful, so we need to be sure that those joining our team have resilience and are able to sustain the demands and be ready to enjoy making a difference to the lives of those who seek our help.

Essential

  • Diploma or higher award in counselling or equivalent
  • Qualification or willingness to train in an IAPT-compliant counselling modality: PersonCentred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) or Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD)
