Job summary
- To undertake all duties associated with assisting to deliver the provision of a modern diagnostic imaging and medical photography service, providing high standards of patient care at all times.
- To work within the operational hours of the departments as necessary.
- Receive patients on arrival in the department.
- Undertake reception duties including patient identity checks as per trust policy.
- Be fully conversant with all aspects of the Radiology Information System (CRIS).
- Register patient attendance onto the CRIS system.
- Ensure relevant pre procedure and safety checklists are complete and have an understanding of the importance of the questions. Take appropriate action where necessary.
- Deal with enquiries from patients and staff by telephone and in person.
- To assist radiographic staff with daily workload and planning including contacting wards to arrange transport (using the Capacity Management module) and preparation for inpatients attending the department.
- Assist the patient prior to, during and post examination as required.
- To assist the medical photography team with all teledermatology and phlebotomy examinations.
Main duties of the job
- To prepare the clinical area for examinations/daily workload.
- To set up/prepare for procedures as required and ensuring ANTT is used where necessary.
- To maintain adequate stock levels within the clinical area.
- To assist radiographic, medical photography and medical staff in the preparation of patients, equipment, safe manual handling and positioning of patients including cannulation where necessary.
- To provide a high standard of patient care, comfort and reassurance in order to comply with trust policies and departmental protocols.
- To maintain a clean and safe working environment for each examination.
- Monitor patients post procedure or imaging examination and alert the appropriate Practitioner or Consultant Radiologist of any problems.
