Job summary

Opportunity has arisen for a part time 23 hr CVAD nurse to join the existing CVAD team. The post holder will ideally be CVAD trained but alternatively training will be given to the right candidate who will work as an integral member of the Central Venous Access Devices Team, providing an exemplary service to patients. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to patients requiring or with a Central Venous Access Device (CVAD).This post is across both sites and covers a 7 day service.

o To assess staff accessing Central Venous Access Devices and sign them off as competent.

To support the senior team members on PICC insertion day.

To participate in formal education and teaching sessions to registered nurses on the care and maintenance of Central Venous Access Devices.

To assess staff accessing Central Venous Access Devices and sign them off as competent.

To maintain an exemplar level of communication with patient, family and the multidisciplinary team.

To establish plans of care to the benefit of the patient and ward staff.

Clinical Duties

To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients, participate in the assessing, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised programmes of care.

To be responsible for delivering high standards of care when accessing a Central Venous Access Device.

To support the senior team members on PICC insertion days.

Establish and maintain effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team.

Act as an innovative and enthusiastic role model, providing leadership, guidance and advice to staff on clinical issues.

Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required including providing feedback and disseminating information as appropriate

To ensure that high standards of nursing care are given and maintained, and to act

accordingly when standards are not being maintained.

To recognise changes in a patients condition which require the intervention of others and refer on as appropriate.

To act as an advocate for the patient and the family, including promoting and protecting their interests, rights, equality and inclusion and privacy
