Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a RTT Pathway Coordinator/Secretary within the Medical Division. This post will be cross site working, based at both HRI & CRH per service needs.
The role will involve monitoring and validating RTT pathways in line with the RTT policy, ensuring that patients are seen and treated within the given timeframe, be single point of contact, may involve typing letters from dictation, however many have now migrated to voice recognition, facilitate meetings, reports, overseeing the management of waiting lists and the ASI, constantly reviewing long waiters and actioning these, ordering supplies and various other duties to support the service.
You will also be required to support other colleagues and services subject to service needs for the wider Medicine services. You will need to be compassionate and caring, diplomatic and be able to manage the demands of the role with empathy and resilience.
The successful applicants must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to work well in a team.
The successful applicants should possess RSA II word processing or equivalent and have a good standard of general education with the desire to learn new skills and undertake training.
The applicants must have secretarial experience in an NHS office or environment with EPR & ESR, and RTT pathway experience would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
Track patients and actively manage patient's clinical pathway to ensure appointments, investigations MDT discussions and treatments are conducted in a timely manner consistent with their timed clinical pathway and expected appointment scheduling.
The post holder will require knowledge of Local and National RTT policy in order to facilitate the accurate scheduling of patients with consideration to RTT and clinical priority status.

IPT (inter-patient transfer) management.
Manage and maintain the outpatient clinics and liaise with the Appointments Centre
to arrange outpatient appointments when necessary.
Organise clinical and non-clinical meetings.
Cancel and reduce clinics as requested by consultants, ensuring that the 6-week rule is adhered to whenever possible. Where clinics are cancelled within the 6-week rule, ensure the Template Team are contacted by telephone, that the cancellation forms are completed and authorised by the appropriate person.
To ensure that all equipment, such as computers, printers etc, which are used, are in working order, contacting the relevant department/personnel if they are not.
Provide cover for colleagues, i.e., sick/annual leave or excessively busy times, ensuring smooth running of the service.
Offer advice and support and demonstrate duties to new members of staff.
Provide non-clinical information to patients, patients relatives, GPs, other hospitals etc, whilst exercising judgement to ensure that all the relevant personnel are given necessary information as quickly as possible, thereby ensuring that any action, which needs to be taken, is taken promptly.
To be able to work on own initiative and make decisions within written guidelines, sometimes without reference to others.
Ad hoc duties as required and requested by the team leader or the Operations Team.
