Job summary
This is an exciting secondment opportunity to work within the CHFT multi-disciplinary specialist respiratory team. The post holder will take the lead on attaining accreditation for the pulmonary rehabilitation service working alongside the existing clinical lead physiotherapist. The team delivers a community pulmonary rehabilitation service that supports and promotes optimal self-care. This service may be delivered to a cohort in a class setting, individually tailored home based rehabilitation as part of a supported discharge pathway, or virtually using digital and remote platforms.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service Accreditation Scheme (PRSAS) is run by the royal college of Physicians. The aim of the programme is to improve the quality of pulmonary rehabilitation across the UK. The post is a 12 months Secondment/fixed term temporary position. The postholder will work alongside existing clinical staff to review current provision of the service and to then manage the process of meeting the established standards needed to become an accredited service. There will be a small element of clinical caseload, running groups and supervision of less senior members of the team in the absence of the existing band 7 clinical lead physiotherapist.
Experience in project management skills will be useful for this position. Previous experience of working within the respiratory field in particular pulmonary rehabilitation is essential. Knowledge of the PRSAS is an advantage.
Main duties of the job
To Act as a change agent and innovator, planning, instigating, and evaluating change in line with the pulmonary rehabilitation accreditation standards. To assist the already established pulmonary rehabilitation team implement standards to help achieve accreditation. This will be achieved by developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, partnerships, and networks within the local region
The postholder will contribute to measuring the effectiveness and productivity of pulmonary rehabilitations services provided through the collection and correlation of data for the team annual report and ongoing national audit
The post holder will support the pulmonary rehabilitation clinical lead in the daily operational management of pulmonary rehabilitation and manage autonomously a small clinical workload of patients with chronic respiratory disease at a highly specialist level, assessing and treating patients and maintaining clinical records.
