Job summary
Within our Emergency Department we have between 200 and 300 patients attending each day. We require a caring, compassionate, friendly and highly motivated Housekeeper to join our team in the Emergency Department. You will possess excellent communication skills, work well as part of a team and have the ability to work in a busy and challenging environment whilst using your own initiative.
Main duties of the job
- To clear crockery, etc used outside routine clearing periods.
- To tidy/clean sluice and linen storage areas as required.
- To tidy and clean other areas on the ward on a daily or weekly as planned/scheduled.
- To assist with meals, support patients, staff and relatives as required as the ward has a protected meal times policy.
- To support with hydration and nutrition rounds
- Cleaning of all equipment on the ward.
- Ordering of stock/supplies and storage
- To create and maintain effective working relationships with other members of staff.
- To answer the telephone in a professional manner.
- To follow Health and Safety policies relevant to working environment and attend mandatory updates in accordance with Trust policy eg fire procedure and food hygiene.
- To adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
- To highlight potential hazards to the Nurse in Charge
- To handle appropriate equipment safely, following training/instruction.
- To decontaminate equipment according to infection control policies.
- To report faulty equipment to the Estates Department.
- To work under the direction of the Nurse in Charge with any duties, support requested.
