This post is a Macmillan funded opportunity to shape and influence Non Surgical Oncology (NSO) this is a joint appointment with Calderdale & Huddersfield Foundation Trust (CHFT) and Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust (MYTT) (South Sector)

We have a Target Operating Model to that brings the two Trusts together to deliver a single NSO service

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse who has a passion for workforce developments and innovation opportunities to help shape and support the teams to deliver the ambitions for our future service and workforce modelling

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic senior nurse, with recent oncology experience who can demonstrate their drive and ambition for innovation within the workforce of the future. The focus of the role is in promoting South Sector values for teams across both trusts to work as one team, you will lead developing single practices and policies in line with the joint governance structure and processes, identifying gaps within current services including competencies and knowledge and leading the teams to single sector working. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented pathways and policies and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data and feedback

The post holder will have recent senior clinical experience within an oncology service, with evidence of effective leadership skills to deal with deadlines, and identifying areas of joint working that need to be prioritised.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will:-

Lead on developing and implementing the NSO South Sector workforce model requirements, working alongside the clinical teams, developing south sector polices, competencies, training and innovation opportunities

To identify opportunities for collaborative working with services in primary and community care where new and shared roles can be developed for out of hospital delivery of NSO services.

To influence the development of consistent training and competencies across all nursing, registered and non-registered roles

Providing verbal and written reports into the programme's governance structure and key stakeholder organisations on progress

Work with the Lead Nurse Consultant and Lead Pharmacist for NSO in developing competency-based role descriptions of the future in line with ACCEND for nursing and AHP roles taking into consideration the Macmillan Person Centred Competency Framework (MPCCF).

You will work with the Macmillan Cancer Supports regional team to share insights and develop opportunities for the NSO workforce

You will contribute to Oncology, SACT and Divisional governance structures, as part of the multi-disciplinary team across the south sector.

NSO Programme Workforce Lead

  • Develop and lead on clinical and non-medical workforce workstreams to shape new pathways and policies across the NSO Programme, reporting into the programme governance.
  • Facilitating workshops and multi-professional, multi organisational working task and finish groups within dedicated workstreams.
  • Develop effective relationships & networking actively to establish and build a wide range of effective networks, contacts and partnerships internal and external to the Trusts which are used to inform and influence the direction of patient care and NSO services.
  • You will have the opportunity of influencing the working across the whole West Yorkshire Harrogate Cancer Alliance (WY&HCA) footprint for NSO and would need to have strong influencing and negotiating skills, credible clinical expertise in NSO and cancer pathways.
