This post is a key operational post providing leadership, support and guidance for
Safeguarding children and maternity services across the Trust that meets the statutory duties in line with Section 11 of the Children Act 1989/2004.
The Safeguarding Children and Maternity Advisor will provide advice and support across the Trust in relation to safeguarding children and families, under the guidance of the Named Professionals.
The role will sit corporately and work as part of the Integrated Adults and Children's Safeguarding Team to deliver safeguarding training and supervision that supports staff in working with families with complex needs and where safeguarding concerns are identified.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a commitment to safeguarding families to work as part of the Integrated Children's and Adults Safeguarding Team. This post will support the statutory roles of the Named Professionals. We welcome a creative, flexible individual who can demonstrate leadership ability in supporting nursing, maternity, medical staff and allied health professionals with meeting their safeguarding responsibilities.

Essential
- Professional qualification in Health for example in Nursing or Midwifery
Desirable
- Post graduate Diploma or Masters level qualification (or working towards) or can demonstrate significant comparable experience or qualifications within Safeguarding children
- Mentorship / teaching / supervision qualification
- Additional training in counselling skills / Safeguarding Supervision
Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration/qualification experience within a healthcare/safeguarding environment or could be appointed as a trainee
- Experience of overseeing multi-agency and multi-professional care packages for infants, children and young people with requirements for safeguarding
- Extensive experience of supporting communication between clinicians and nursing staff throughout established care pathways working across services.
- Extensive experience in risk assessment, Safeguarding of vulnerable children and adults, and multi-agency responses or could be appointed as a trainee.
- Experience of working with other key stakeholders in promoting and championing health services for Vulnerable children and young people
- Experience of primary care/acute interface and multi-agency working.
- Good understanding of child/ young people's development

- Participated in service development and implementation of change through clinical leadership or could be appointed as a trainee
- Evaluation of clinical standards of care through audit and participation in research activity.
