Job summary

Delivering outstanding compassionate care to the communities we serve

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is a truly innovative and inclusive place to be. It is our people that make us the organisation we are. Our 'One culture of care' means that we focus on compassionate care for patients, staff and our communities equally. This culture of care is underpinned by our four 'pillars' or values, which are:

  • We put people first
  • We 'go see'
  • We work together to get results
  • We do the must-dos

We have a Care Quality Commission rating of GOOD for our services. We are a highly digital trust with significant use of technology and innovation across all our services and

Our ambitious reconfiguration and transformation plans are well underway with the recent completion of our new Accident and Emergency Department in Huddersfield and developments on the Calderdale site due to start in early 2024.

We have an opportunity for two Non-Executive Directors to join us to help to shape and deliver our plans. We are seeking to improve the diversity of our Board to be reflective of the communities we serve, and we are therefore keen to receive applications from people with one or more protected characteristics.

Main duties of the job

Role 1: Background in a HR / Workforce / People officer role at a senior level in a large organisation

Role 2: Clinical qualification and experience at a senior level in a clinical environment. We would particularly be interested in applications from people with experience in primary care.

About us

We employ more than 6,500 staffwho deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals,Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, healthcentres and in patients' homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children's and young people's services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

We continue to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation.Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS- yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards. Boardslisten to their Council of Governors and respond to the needs of their members - patients, staff andthe local community.

Foundation trusts provide what the health service wants, yet are also free to invest quickly in thechanges to the local community needs, in striving to be the best, and in putting their patients first.
