The successful candidate will participate in the prevention and control of healthcare associated infection within Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation NHS Trust. They will work closely with other team members across The Trust in the ongoing development and implementation of infection control practice in line with both Trust and national requirements.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated practitioner. Joining the multidisciplinary team will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to develop expert skills and knowledge related to the prevention of infectionproviding an advisory, investigative and educational role within the Trust, as well as having responsibility for surveillance, audit, control and prevention of disease.
Main duties of the job
You will inspire and motivate others, act as a role model and a professional source of advice for others. The IPCN will ensure that IPC remains a highly visible service and an integral part of patient safety. You will be a Nurse or Midwife registered with the NMC. The candidate will have knowledge of current issues relating to IPC and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an understanding of audit and quality improvement; prioritise their own workload, working independently and as part of a team. In conjunction with the other members of the team you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management and continuing development of the IPC service to provide specialist knowledge, education, and advice, to promote health, prevent and control infections for patients, relatives, healthcare workers and support PFI partners and visitors to the healthcare environment.

The Infection Prevention & Control Team have a wide ranging programme of activity with a focus on continual improvement in order to deliver the best care for everyone and ensures our patients are at the centre of everything we do.
The successful candidate will be working in the Infection Prevention and Control team. The team is made up of Band 6 & 7 Nurses, a Lead Nurse for IPC , Infection Control Doctor, alongside the microbiology department and Antimicrobial Pharmacists, data manager and an IPC assistant. Band 6 IPCN are supported by band 7 Nurses to support their development.
The IPCT have a vision of no preventable infection by delivering safe care. The team foster an environment of compassionate care, support and innovation to work together to ensure that everything is done with the patient in mind. The team are friendly and inclusive.
