Job summary
Berkshire Healthcare CAMHS are excited to recruit a qualified (EMHP) to work as part of the Mental Health Support Team for schools in the West Berkshire area.The MHST service is part of an exciting initiative funded by The Dept of Health, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in school and the community. This opportunity allows you to join an existing innovative service during an exciting time as the MHST provision is set to expand in the next few years, whilst working alongside an enthusiastic, compassionate and inspiring team!
You will work within our Mental Health Support Teams in West Berkshire delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people aged up to 18, helping to shape emotionally healthy school environments and provide direct support to those who need it most. You will be co-located in schools across your locality, working collaboratively with education staff to promote a whole-school approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. The role requires creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for young people. There isa focus on close links with other CAMHS pathways to ensure a seamless approach to care for our CYPF. This role offers an exciting opportunity to continue to innovate and deliver high quality evidence-based care and whole system interventions, with great ongoing CPD opportunities.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver evidence-based intervention for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems.
- As a qualified EMHP you will be confident in the use of CYP IAPT principles, evidence-based interventions and routine outcome measures.
- Help children and young people who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services; using effective multiagency collaborative working to effectively signpost and refer on where appropriate.
- Support professionals in various settings (e.g. education, Early Help, Social Care etc.)to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
- To care co-ordinate and manage a defined caseload of children and young people presenting with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties in schools under supervision.
- To develop and provide training/ workshops for professionals, parents and carers, and CYP in conjunction with colleagues.
- Actively promote the whole system approach to developing and maintaining emotional health and well-being within and across services.
