Estates Maintenance Assistant

Job summary

We are looking for a self-motivated and reliable individual, with a positivecan-do attitude.Therolewill provide essential support to the Estates department by undertaking a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks across theTrustestate.You must be an enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant, who ideally has a background in general maintenance repairsand is keen to learn and grow their career within the Trust Estates Team.

Key responsibilities include carrying out minor plumbing repairs, attending to carpentry needs, and assisting with general building upkeep.The post holder will work collaboratively with senior estates maintenance staff and other departments to promptly identify and resolve faults, thereby minimizing any disruption to the services.

The role demands a high level of diligence, attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety standards. The Maintenance Assistant will be expected to respond efficiently to maintenance requests and emergency callouts, maintaining accurate records of all work undertaken

Working flexibly, you will benefit from working across multiple sites in Berkshire; and be able to travel independently with company provided transportation (pool van), whilst transporting any tools and equipment, as required to meet the requirements of the role. Main duties of the job

  • Ensure routine and reactive/repair requests across multiple sites are handled promptly, meeting quality standards, and keeping clients advised of the status.

  • Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are carried out as assigned, covering Compliance with Legionella prevention, scalding risks, fire alarm testing, lifts, and building fabric.

  • Responsible for purchasing stores and parts as needed, using a purchase card system.

  • Record time and materials used on jobs via the MICAD Helpdesk software on a Trust-issued device.

  • Work from instructions and specifications independently, demonstrating full awareness of H&S

  • Ensure work is completed to a high standard, including finishing and making good.

  • Stay flexible and updated on new technology, recommending innovation when needed.

  • Provide cover for colleagues to ensure continuity and resilience within the estates team.

  • Always carry a mobile phone during duty and respond promptly.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours + on call stipend after 2 months (on call attracts additional payments of approximately £5,200/annum) + occasional overtime (as scheduled).
