Job summary

Dietetic Clinical Lead for Care Homes - Band 7 - 18.75 hours per week.

Contract: Fixed term - 1 year

Base: West Reading and some hybrid working

Location: Berkshire-wide

This exciting new post will work as part of the Care Home Support Team to sustain and improve the quality of patient care by supporting care home staff across Berkshire. You will help raise awareness and understanding of supporting residents with their nutritional needs and reduce attendances and admissions to hospital. You will have access to IT equipment to enable you to work remotely from home and a range of office bases across Berkshire, as well as working face to face within the care homes.

You will be integrated within the core Berkshire wide dietetic team. We strongly value continuing professional development and offer an employee-led appraisal process and personal development plan. We will support you to develop your ideas for research and audit and offer collaboration and training with our Research & Development and Clinical Effectiveness teams. We also engage in student training and facilitate teaching opportunities.

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled and committed dietitians to join this forward-thinking team.

The post holder would ideally have a valid UK licence and access to a car or ability to travel to multiple locations across Berkshire West

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure care home residents are receiving optimal nutrition and hydration care by delivering a locally developed training programme, to health care professionals in Nursing Homes and Residential Homes within Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
  • To lead on the development and delivery of dietetic educational programmes on nutritional care for care home staff, GPs, other health care professionals and members of the Care Homes MDT
  • To lead on development of dietary protocols and guidelines for the service and contribute to the policies for the team as a whole.
  • To take an active role within the general functioning of the Dietetic Department, including contributing to student training
  • To support community colleagues and Care Home staff in the management of complex dietetic scenarios including dysphagia and dementia.
