Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare is looking for a Patient Safety Specialist (8b) to work within our senior patient safety team and play a key role in the local implementation of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy. This will include supporting the continued development of our patient safety culture, our safety systems and improvement activity.

As one of our Patient Safety Specialists you will be regarded as a key patient safety expert and will work together as a team to ensure all the requirements of the specialist role are met. You will provide dynamic senior leadership, visibility and expert support to the patient safety work in the organisation. You will be responsible for leading networks to share good practice and learning both internally and with regional and national groups.

This is a fulltime role with the opportunity for hybrid working as well as visiting clinical services/sites and joining the team at London House for office working days.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead on the implementation of the of the National Patient Safety Strategy - this includes continuing to embed and further develop local implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF); involving patients and families in patient safety activity; supporting services and the Trust as we progress with the Learn from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) service; improving our internal patient safety education and training offer

  • Play a lead role in the continued development of quality and patient safety within the Trust to promote harm free care for staff and patients.

  • Act as an ambassador for the Trust developing constructive relationships with the Trust, with Governors and all external partners.

  • Ensure the Trust meets all required legislation and good practice for responding to our patient safety incidents as well as supporting mortality review process
