Rowan Ward in Prospect Park Hospital is a mixed 20 bed Ward that provides care for older adults with mainly dementia and other mental health conditions such as depression.Based in Reading, located close to the amenities of the town centre and a leafy park, the ward works closely with patients and families to help them to identify their needs and participate actively in their care, providing a place of empathy, kindness, and compassion.

With excellent communication and people skills, you will reassure those in your care, discussing distressing and sensitive situations in a kind, calm and respectful manner. Helpful and approachable, you will deliver a seamless service and will be eager to assist with queries both face-to-face and over the phone.

Main duties of the job

  • You will already have substantial experience of working as a support worker in a mental health care setting with the ability to supervise and coach junior staff.
  • You have a passion for caring, a warm personality and the resilience to help us transform our patients' lives.

  • With great communication and people skills, you will ensure that patient dignity is always maintained.Collaborating with our warm, friendly and enthusiastic team, you can play your part in helping us achieve our ambitions to become a 'Centre of Excellence'.
