Job summary

PART TIME ROLE - 30 HOURS PER WEEK - MONDAY TO FRIDAY ONLY

Oakwood Inpatient Unit provides physical health rehabilitation in a 24 bed inpatient environment. We provide an MDT approach to rehabilitation, helping patients who have experienced an acute hospital admission return to their functional baseline where possible. Most of our patients are above the age of 75 and have experienced an acute health deterioration, injury or surgery which has impacted their mobility and function.

The therapy team comprises of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Multi Therapy Assistants. In this role you will be expected to support the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the delivery of rehabilitation, exercise programmes, group therapy sessions and rehabilitation of activities of daily living. You will work closely with the therapists and other MTA's to do this, with guidance from our senior MTA. All tasks will be prescribed by the therapists and training will be provided as required.

Main duties of the job

  • Based at Oakwood Inpatient Unit on the site of Prospect Park Hospital
  • To perform specific clinical tasks delegated by Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists for patients with identified therapy goals

  • Once deemed competent, tasks will include delivering exercise programmes, activities of living re-education, checking equipment height and needs, and doing access/home visits as required

  • To assist in administrative duties of the therapy service

  • To maintain and monitor stock levels of equipment

  • To maintain a clean and tidy physiotherapy gym and assessment kitchen

  • To work flexibly to support the wider team, including the nursing team, to ensure that patient safety is always prioritised
