Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Berkshire Immunisation Team based in the East of Berkshire. The Immunisation team is responsible for providing routine and catch-up Immunisations to children and young people in schools and community settings across Berkshire.
We are looking for self-motivated and dynamic registered Nurse or Midwife, who has experience of working with children and young people in the community and who is passionate about the public health benefits of vaccination.
This post is based at Foundation House in Dedworth, Windsor in the East of Berkshire and the post holder will be expected to travel across the three localities including Bracknell Forest, the Royal Borough of Windsor, Ascot, and Maidenhead (RBWM) and Slough.
This post is for 24 hours over 3 days (8.5-hour days with a 30-minute lunch break) - days off can be discussed at interview. The post is term time only and you would be employed for 39 weeks of the year. This means that the school holidays count as your 'annual leave' and all holidays need to be taken during this time.

Main duties of the job

Taking the lead vaccinator role for several schools
Communicating with children, young people, families, and schools
Planning and running catch up clinics.
Immunising in school sessions and community clinics
Reviewing vaccination uptake and providing a more targeted approach to improve uptake to low uptake schools.
Collecting and transporting vaccine safely
Vaccine related health promotion

The core hours of the immunisation service are between 08:30 and 16:30. The post holder will need to be flexible with their daily hours depending on the role they are undertaking, as outlined below:
8am start:
From 8:30am:
- Vaccinators leading on school sessions this allows final checks to be completed with school, final triage and to ensure the session runs smoothly.
9am start:
- Vaccinators and healthcare support workers supporting school sessions these staff need to arrive at a session ready to start vaccinating.
- For all staff to help with the delivery and organisation of the Berkshire Healthcare Staff Programme
