Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic high intensity CBT therapist or other CAMHS professional with CBT training, to join the Berkshire CAMHS Anxiety Disorders Treatment Team.

Anxiety Disorders Treatment Team provides specialist CBT-based care for children and young people suffering with anxiety disorders, OCD and TICS across Berkshire. The A&D team contains a committed and supportive team of clinicians with a passion for using formulation driven CBT in a creative and innovative way to help children and young people. The ADTT has a compassionate team charter which permeates across all our team activities and working life. The ADTT is an innovative and highly valued part of BHFT and has a strong research collaboration with the University of Reading.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide comprehensive assessments and collaboratively derive care plans
  • Provide adapted and formulation-led CBT to children and young people
  • Be able to use supervision effectively
  • Work effectively in a Multi-disciplinary Team

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered professional qualification e.g., in Mental Health Nursing, Social Worker, or educated to degree level or above with a clinical qualification relevant to CAMHS i.e. High Intensity CBT therapist
  • Relevant professional registration, e.g. HCPC, NMC

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments of mental health needs and agreeing care plans based on psychological formulation of presenting difficulties.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within Child & Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Effective and competent interpersonal, influencing, communication, observation and reporting skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to analyse situations and be able to make the right decisions
  • Able to empathise, be supportive and sensitive to the needs of others as well as being able to cope with distressing circumstances
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, work on own initiative, work unsupervised and manage own workload
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding child development and the impact it can have on meeting the five Every Child Matters outcomes The Children's Act 1989 and 2004 and The Mental Health Act 1983 and 2007
  • Ability to manage clinical risk and understanding of child safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to cope in a pressurised environment and apply practical problem solving skills in everyday situations
