Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a band 5 Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join the CAMHS service in the newly established Primary Mental Health Team (PMHT4 Youth) based in Wokingham. We welcome applications from practitioners who are looking for part time and full time work.

The PMH4Y service provides assessments and short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people in Wokingham with mild to moderate mental health needs. The PMHT 4 Youth service aims to promote the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people in the community, offering advice, information and support to young people, families, and consultation and training to professionals, as appropriate.

The team works closely and proactively with partner agencies, including the Mental Health Support Teams, Early Help, Youth Offending Teams and CAMHS. This is a unique opportunity to be part of, and contribute to, a developing and innovative service. The team provides an important interface with partner agencies and specialist CAMHS.

The service has been developed in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council Children's Services, who remain key partners in this initiative and the development of wider emotional health and wellbeing services for young people. The PMHT 4 Youth Team sits alongside the newly established Mental Health Support Team in Wokingham and there may be the opportunity for cross working across the teams.

Main duties of the job

  • To be trained and confident in the use of CYP IAPT principles, evidence-based interventions (such as Low Intensity CBT) and Routine Outcome Measures.
  • Assess and deliver, outcome focused, evidence-based low intensity interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties
  • Working in partnership, support children, young people in the self-management of presenting difficulties
  • Work in partnership with children, young people, and families in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes
  • Support and empower children young people and families to make informed choices about the intervention.
  • The main responsibility of this new CWP role will be to provide, outcome focused, evidence-based low intensity interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
