An exciting opportunity has become available for a Full time Band 7 Primary Mental Health practitioner to join the newly developed Primary Mental Health Team (PMHT) 4 Youth, based in Wokingham.
The PMHT 4 Youth team provides assessments and short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people in Wokingham with mild to moderate mental health needs. The service promotes the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people in the community by offering advice, information and support to young people and families, and consultation and training to professionals, as appropriate. Outreach support to promote engagement, where needed, is provided and the team work closely and proactively with partner agencies, including the Mental Health Support Teams, Early Help, Youth Offending Teams and CAMHS.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of and contribute to a newly developed and innovative service. This is an important post at the interface with partner agencies and specialist CAMHS. The post has been informed and agreed in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council Children's Services, who remain key partners in the development of the Primary Mental Health Team and the development of wider emotional health and wellbeing services for young people.
Main duties of the job
- Clinical assessments for young people up to the age of 18 years, presenting with mild to moderate mental health problems.
- Short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions (individual, group, family, as appropriate)
- Consultations - offering advice, information and support to young people, families, and professionals.
- Joint working with partner agencies, including Mental Health Support Teams, Early Help, Youth Offending Teams, other Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Services
- Use of routine outcome measures to promote active participation from young people and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Training to professionals
- Supervision, as appropriate to role
