Job summary

We have a part-time (22.5 hours) post to work as part of the specialist Intensive Management of Personality Disorder and Clinical Therapies Team, IMPACTT, to provide evidence-based psychological therapy, primarily Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) - the post is open to psychologists, psychotherapists. Alternatively, this could be a preceptorship role (Band 6) to those with a core profession (mental health nurse, OT and social workers) who could then progress to Band 7 after obtaining an MBT Practitioner level accreditation.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a compassionate and forward-thinking team, providing evidence-based interventions for adults in Berkshire who experience difficulties associated with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD). The post will therefore involve work with service users who have often suffered abuse, deprivation & trauma in their early years & continue in adulthood to experience extreme difficulties in their relationships with others & present with dysregulation in managing emotion, identity disturbance, impulsiveness & serious self-injuries & suicidal behaviours.

This post will offer an opportunity to develop skills and expertise in MBT. The role will involve the provision of assessment, formulation & therapeutic intervention to clients referred to the service in line with the most recent evidence and service model.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • be based in IMPACTT and deliver care in a number of premises across Berkshire as required.
  • work in collaboration with other psychological therapists to deliver specialist psychological interventions to people with Personality Disorders. This will include working individually and in groups.
  • contribute to delivering a full therapy programme, including group facilitation, individual sessions and weekly team supervision meetings.
  • provide consultation, teaching and joint work to multi-professional teams and colleagues.
  • undertake clinical audit activities, and contribute to ongoing outcome measurement and review of the efficacy of the programme.
  • participate in regular supervision.
