Due to new investment we are excited to be recruiting for a Clinical Psychologist (either band 7 developmental role or 8a Senior Clinical Psychologist) to join our Autism Assessment Team on either a full or part time basis.

Our experienced and dedicated team work in a number of locations across Berkshire to provide autism assessments across the age, ability and complexity range. We work closely with partnership agencies and voluntary services to facilitate continued support and advice for families pre-assessment and beyond diagnosis and provide online support via the innovative BHFT platform 'SHaRON'.

To join our team, we are looking for an innovative Clinical Psychologist who shares our passion for autism. You will be self-motivated and able to work autonomously at pace; be effective in managing your time, workload and priorities and motivated by your drive to deliver the highest quality care while ensuring the best possible patient experience. For the band 7 developmental role, there will be an opportunity to progress to 8a once you have demonstrated that you meet the competencies over an 18-24 month period.

Main duties of the job

The role will include:

  • Conducting autism assessments for children and young people from 2-18 years, across the ability range. All assessments are conducted with 2 clinicians
  • This will include complex and second opinion autism assessments
  • Identifying when onward referral is required and managing this
  • Provision of high-quality assessment reports with recommendations
  • Clinicians in the Autism Assessment Team also offer training, consultation and supervision and clinical moderation on our online support platform

For applicants to the 8A Senior Clinical Psychology post, the role will also include:

  • Taking a lead on service improvement projects and updates to clinical processes
  • To identify and lead on opportunities for audit and small-scale research projects
  • Supporting Team Leads as necessary (e.g. with recruitment, appraisals, investigating complaints etc.
  • Supporting the induction of new staff into the role
