Job summary
This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated dietitian with an interest in bariatric surgery, excellent communication skills and a passion for patient centered care.
As the successful candidate, you will be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital providing a specialist dietetic input into the bariatric service, working closely with your MDT colleagues including endocrinologists, surgeons and specialist nurses.
This role will provide you with excellent and supported professional and personal development. As part of the team you will have opportunities to be involved with the training of dietetic students, other dietitians and healthcare professions. There are also opportunities to get involved with audit, research and service development
You would be joining a team of over 20 committed and welcoming dietitians, who work in a range of specialist areas at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
We are a forward thinking department that has a strong focus on a patient centered service.
Full time (37.5 hours) hours are available for this role, however part time hours Job share would be considered.
The role can accommodate flexible working and we would consider a band 5 applicant who would like to have an accelerated progression to band 6.
Main duties of the job
You will be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading working closely with the endocrinology consultant, surgeons and specialist nurses to assess and advice patients who are planning to have or have had bariatric surgery. Our service uses a range of consultation settings to support our patients at all stages along their pathway. Some of the areas of work include:
- Being part of the MDT in assessing suitability for surgery
- Advising and supporting patients in their preparation for surgery
- Facilitating group education session
- Supporting, advising and monitoring patients post op in maximising nutritional intakes
The "must haves" for this role:
- HCPC registered dietitian
- Experience of working in the area of a weight management tier 3 or 4 setting
- Passion for dietetics and a patient centred focus
