Job summary
The post holder will provide specialist advice and support to all colleagues within the Trust and providing nursing led care for patients undergoing elective surgery. The ACP role will encompass direct patient care and will provide a leadership to the Perioperative nursing team. The expectations within this job description will reflect the 4 pillars of advanced nursing practice, with the role holder delivering professional leadership, consultancy, education and training, service development, research, and scholarly activities within the sphere of pre-operative nursing. The focus of this role in agreement with the Associate Chief Nurse is to use nursing expertise to:
- Further Develop independent nurse-led services within the pre-operative treatment centre to improve the timeliness and quality of care to patients undergoing elective surgery.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team undertaking management of a caseload of patients requiring complex preoperative assessment and care planning e.g. high risk anaesthetic patients and patients with Learning Disabilities. The role will provide an interface between the patient, carer and medical and nursing disciplines, developing nursing practice and identifying opportunities for improved healthcare.
- Develop coherent and 'seamless' pre-operative care for patients across multi-professional teams in primary and secondary health care settings.

Main duties of the job
You will:
> Have clinical responsibilities and be expected to have your own clinic streams providing preoperative assessments for patients with complex needs and multiple comorbidities. ,
> Be resource to the staff in the department when required offering advice and guidance on assessments and diagnostics required, onward referrals and next steps.
> Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the teams and departments, co-ordinating and ensuring the department is running efficiently and safely and problem-solving issues as they arise.
> Responsible for the rota management and the people, health and wellbeing management of your teams. Working alongside HR as required.
> Managing the departments workforce and non-workforce budgets effectively and have oversight of the financial position of the unit/Trust.
> You will develop close links with the clinical MDT and CBU operational team. You will help to identify innovative solutions and opportunities to develop the service and increase the capacity.
> As the governance lead you will actively contribute to learning from events and helping to identify systems learning and sharing this with your team.
