We have an exciting opportunity in the pre-operative assessment unit in Halton.
The post will includes assessing patients who are listed for a general anaesthetic for speciality surgery at Warrington/Halton/CSTM.
The successful candidate will be expected and have the following opportunities,
Using history taking, clinical examination, diagnostics to assess patients, acting on findings and escalating appropriately.
Identifying deteriorating patients and acting appropriately
Managing own long waiters/results
Liaising with anaesthetist for guidance and support
Assessing patients as part of an MDT approach
Identifying own area for development with a plan in place
Managing clinics and allocating patients
Deputising for Ward Manager in her absence
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role include:
Working together within a team with an MDT approach.
Assessing patients daily, including history taking, clinical examination, diagnostics and ECG interpretation skills.
Identifying a deteriorating patient, acting upon this and escalating appropriately.
Working with long waiting patients and chasing their results to enable a safe pre-op assessment for surgery
Supporting junior members of the team
Supporting ward manager in their absence

Provide co-ordination within the department, ensuring the smooth running of clinics on a regular basis including during the managers absence.The post holder is responsible as a registered, accountable and autonomous nurse to act in the best interests of patients at all times and take responsibility for own actions, omissions and decisions. Be responsible for planning, delivering and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care. You will be required to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and be open, transparent and trustworthy. Review, develop and initiate development of clinical procedures, protocols and practice to ensure the effectivedelivery of service to patients within the Trust.
