Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist - 15 Hours Per Week

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and clinically skilled nurse to join our existing team of Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists. The post holder will need to have experience in working with breast cancer patients and a particular interest in the specialty.

The post holder will support the team in providing expert clinical and supportive care for patients diagnosed with breast cancers and work with the Local Multidisciplinary Team in supporting patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway, providing individualised, compassionate and informed patient care.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with an interest and experience breast cancer to work in a senior role, with a highly skilled and experienced team.

The post is a permanent part time position (15 hours) at Band 7.

The post holder must have:

At least 2 years NHS experience (minimum requirement) and be able to demonstrate Relevant Health or Social Care experience

Understanding of person-centred care

Experience of coaching/teaching patients and carers

The post holder will be expected to work across both Warrington & Halton Hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for providing appropriate specialist advice, support and education to patients throughout the Breast Cancer pathway, from diagnosis to treatment end.

To play a pivotal role within the Breast Cancer team providing: specialist information; high quality care; assessment, advice and support for those patients on a suspected breast cancer pathway having investigative procedures and eventual diagnosis and treatment of an breast cancer. This will extend to their families / carers and other Health Care Professionals both internal and external to the Trust, which will promote a seamless service within a multi-professional framework.

This is a challenging and demanding role and requires a proactive, self-motivated, dedicated person who is capable of managing complex care pathways across multiple agencies and services to ensure the highest quality of care and service delivery for all patients. You will have excellent clinical, communication and decision-making skills, be able to manage your own workload and have problem solving skills. You will be an excellent team player but equally able to work autonomously.

The Cancer Services department at Warrington and Halton Hospitals is a well established and friendly department boasting a wealth of experience across several specialties and with the patient experience and outcomes at the heart of what we do.

As a Breast Cancer CNS you will be part of this team and also work as an integral part of the Breast Service at the hospital supporting the patients of the Warrington and Halton communities through their Breast Cancer journey.
