Midwifery Open Day

Tuesday 6th August

4pm to 8pm

The NEST, Croft Wing

Warrington Hospital, WA5 1QG

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic midwives to join our skilled and highly motivated team at Warrington Hospital. The successful post-holder will have successfully completed their preceptorship and will be part of the Core Midwifery Led Unit Team.

As a Core (MLU) Midwife a regular rotation will occur to ensure staff are skilled in all areas to support in times of escalation and re-deployment.

CQC have recently rated our Maternity Services as "Good" and as a team, we are committed to providing safe, effective care, providing families with a positive experience. As a result, we recognise that our staff are the key contributing factor in providing this care to families and we endeavour to provide a positive and supportive working environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful post-holder will work as a core midwife, assessing, implementing and evaluating care throughout antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.

We ask our staff to be flexible within their role so we can provide the most effective and safe care, working with a well functioning multi-disciplinary team to provide the highest quality care.

A brief summary of main duties would involve:

  • Assess, develop, plan and implement care for patients, working autonomously in the clinical area, practising within Trust guidelines and Sphere of Practice.
  • Collaborative working with the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies to meet the needs of our families.
  • Involve families in the planning and delivery of their care.
  • Providing safe, effective and kind care, in line with our Trust values.
  • Communicating effectively with staff and patients.
  • Providing accurate, evidence based clinical advice to our patients.
  • Recognise and respond to emergency situations as they arise.

Straddling the neighbouring boroughs of Warrington and Halton we are part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care system. Our hospitals are ideally situated to meet the growing healthcare needs of the 330,000 population of these boroughs.

Warrington Hospital is home to our emergency, critical care and maternity services, Halton Hospital is focused on elective procedures and the Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre, although many services are offered at both sites and in community hubs.

A CQC-rated 'good' organisation with 'outstanding' features, we are working towards university hospital status, having achieved teaching hospital status in 2019.

Our workforce of nearly 5,000 across both sites comprises more than 50 nationalities. We strive to be an equal, diverse and inclusive employer, which is recognised as a pioneer in its equality, diversity and inclusion work. The Trust is proud to have achieved numerous external accreditations and is working towards achieving the Anti-Racist Organisation Framework, recognising the importance of anti-racism in all that we do.
