Job summary
Full time band 6 position working within a busy acute surgical ward at Warrington Hospital. Ward A4 covers all aspects of surgery, including colorectal, urology, UGI, ENT and breast. . We pride ourselves on our surgical skills, and this is a department for developing nurses within the team.
Main duties of the job
- To co-ordinate the ward staff and beds
- To promote high quality care for all patients
- To monitor and order medication for stock as required.
- To complete and delegate morning safety checks to ensure completed daily.
- To undertake management duties to support the ward manager which can include, audits, admission planning, and management of staff.
- Support and develop the ward nurses, health care assistants and students to the best of their ability
- To advocate for our patients
- Oversee and support the ward manager with delivery of high quality and safe care.
- To deputise in the absence of the ward manager
