Job summary
The Paediatric Unit consists of a 37 bedded area, which includes a 7 bedded Surgical Day Case Unit, 6 bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit and 24 General Medicine/Surgical overnight beds.
Applicants must have RSCN or RN Child qualification.
Full-time or part-time hours per week, to be worked on an internal rotation basis, which include early, late, weekend and night shifts.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is a responsible, accountable and autonomous nurse that always acts in the best interests of patients and takes responsibility for their own actions and decisions. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, supervising safe and compassionate care, evaluating the effectiveness of care. You will also be responsible for supporting the next generation of paediatric nurses by working alongside the Education Team to coach nursing students from local universities.
You will be required to demonstrate excellent qualities and be open, transparent and trustworthy. The successful candidate will lead/coordinate shifts, be able to work well independently and within the team and support junior staff as well as pre-registration student nurses.
Post holders are expected to show excellent communication skills, as working with members of the MDT within the hospital and local agencies is a key part of the role.
