Vaccinator in Maternity Services- Band 5

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Warrington and Halton Hospitals for a Band 5 Nurse/Midwife to work as a Vaccinator in Maternity Services.

This is an exciting role, offered on a fixed-term contract for 24 months.

The post holder will support the Specialist Midwives for Antenatal and Newborn Services, Antenatal Services Manager and Maternity Vaccinators to promote, deliver and evaluate the Maternity Immunisation Programme (including RSV, Pertussis and seasonal vaccines).

The post holder must be vaccine trained.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work to deliver a safe and effective vaccination service for pregnant people across the Trust footprint.

The post holder will work with the trust to develop a robust vaccination service for the delivery of all maternal immunisations, ensuring every service user receives a full vaccination offer during their maternity journey.

The post holder will develop the communications package for the Trust, working to promote vaccinations and ensuring a fair and equitable provision for all pregnant people.

The post holder will work collaboratively with wider system partners to encourage and influence endorsement of the maternal immunisation programme for their local population.

This will contribute to:

  • Improvement in uptake of the immunisation programmes.
  • Reduce incidence of vaccine preventable disease.
  • Provision of health protection for the wider population due to good vaccine coverage resulting in good herd immunity.
  • An evidence-based understanding of the acceptance and uptake of maternal vaccinations to inform and improve future commissioning and service provision.
  • Improvement in awareness of all maternal immunisations amongst pregnant people, maternity services and wider stakeholders
