Job summary
The
successful candidate will join our breast team consisting of three substantive
Consultant Surgeons, two of whom deliver a comprehensive oncoplastic and breast
reconstructive service, supported by three Trust Grade Specialty doctors and a
deanery appointed ST Trainee. We have close links with the regional Plastic
Surgical Service in Whiston Hospital to deliver a free flap reconstructive
service.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to
join Digestive Diseases at Warrington and Halton Hospitals as a Specialist
Grade in our Breast Department for 12 months.
You will play a key role alongside our
Breast Consultants in the development and delivery of Breast services,
delivering excellent care for our population across Warrington and Halton.
Main duties of the job
The
post is primarily based at The Captain Sir Thomas Moore in Halton.
You will play a key role alongside our
Breast Consultants in the development and delivery of Breast Services.
The appointee will be expected to
deliver Breast CFT clinics, participate in MDT and undertake theatre sessions
together with the Consultants.
The specialist grade post is a 10 PA post and
comprises of Theatre, MDT and Outpatient clinics.
Our department has an active interest in clinical
audit including contributing data for national audits and NCEPOD surveys.
We run a formal teaching programme and would
support the candidate in Clinical and Educational supervision of junior
doctors.
The
post holder will be required to participate in the Trusts and the Clinical
Business Units Governance activities and attend our monthly Audit and
Governance meetings.
Mentoring
and support will be available for the candidate to approach appraisal and
revalidation.
About us
This position will mainly be based at
the newly built Breast Care Centre within The Captain Sir Thomas Moore (CSTM)
building in Halton.
Our new breast unit is fully equipped to deliver a
modern breast service with two digital mammography suites including tomography,
two ultrasound clinic rooms, consultation, and counselling rooms.
The CSTM ward consists of 12 beds and is staffed with a multi-displinary
team of consultants, nurses, physiotherapist, and clinical pharmacists.
There are four clinical nurse specialists currently supporting the
department, including a dedicated metastatic breast care nurse.
The Breast team sits within Digestive
Diseases Clinical Business Unit under Planned Care.
