Biomedical Scientist (Band 5)

Job summary

An opportunity has become available for a permanent postwithin the Biochemistry department. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good organisational skills to join our hard working and friendly team. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working is essential. These skills and attributes are in line with the Trust's values

The department has recently installed the Siemens Atellica chemistry and immunoassay analysers, which are connected to pre and post analytical modules. The department also has Helena Electrophoresis systems, Sebia HbA1c analysers and a Thermo Fisher Phadia 250 for allergy and autoimmune work. All systems are interfaced to the Laboratory information system: CGM MOLIS.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties include Processing samples, validating, and communicating critical abnormal results. Review of internal quality control and analyser maintenance and troubleshooting

As a band 5 BMS you will be expected to work across all areas of the Biochemistry department including the automation, electrophoresis and immunology sections.

The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189:2022 and is also approved for training by the IBMS.

All staff within the department are encouraged to actively participate in the departments quality management system.
