Job summary
The role of Advanced Practitioner will be within the Breast Surgery team. The postholder will provide patient-centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of initial assessment through accurate history taking and examination, requesting appropriate investigations and reviewing these to reach an expert diagnosis with subsequent treatment plan and discharge of patients. The postholder will be key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and the MDT process.
Main duties of the job
Deliver expert, patient-centred care throughout the full clinical pathway, including history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, ensuring patients feel heard, supported, and informed.
Conduct comprehensive clinical examinations and plan care accordingly.
Apply safe and effective critical thinking in clinical decision-making processes.
Request and interpret appropriate diagnostic investigations (e.g. mammography, ultrasound, MRI), in line with patient symptoms and national/local guidelines.5. Demonstrate expert knowledge of benign and malignant breast diseases, including current treatments and associated care pathways, following best practice and evidence-based guidelines.
Practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and other relevant professional standards.
