Job summary
Highly Specialist Paediatric Nutrition Support Dietitian to provide dietetic care across Warrington and Halton in a variety of settings such as inpatient, clinic, patient's homes, specialist schools and respite centers. The post holder will manage a case load which will include home enterally fed children as well as more complex cases of oral nutritional support. They will work closely with Children's community Nursing Teams to support children with complex needs at home. The post will also include cover for the neonatal ward (with support and training if required).
Main duties of the job
- To provide specialist dietary advice to children and their families, in the outpatient/clinic and ward settings.
- To play an active role in wider training of school staff, nursery staff and ward staff on relevant topics
- To support patients and families during the transition from paediatric services through to young adult services
- To contribute to MDT meetings and service development projects where appropriate
- Working within the dietetic team; to be an educator in diet; providing up-to-date dietary information and training for health professionals, medical and non-medical staff, and students, to help improve evidence based and best practice
- To educate children and their parents/ carers e.g. regarding the use of specialist feeding equipment, adjustment of feeding regimens, preparation of feeds etc
- To plan and provide clinical support and competency training for junior dietitians/dietetic assistants/specialist therapy assistants. To undertake the role of an assessor in evaluating and checking competencies of student dietitians. To be actively involved in their training plan.

The department offers excellent support for your professional development, and you will be actively supported to engage in CPD and training. You will receive regular and appropriate supervision. The team is also actively involved in dietetic student training placements and there is scope for the successful candidate to contribute significantly in this.
The service is happy to receive applications from candidates who wish to develop their clinical skills within these specialties, and we would encourage anybody with an interest in paediatrics to apply, as relevant experience and training would be embedded to support the right candidates development.
