Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHSFT

Speech & Language Therapist

The closing date is 07 July 2025

Job summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist looking to develop their skills and competencies working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. This post could potentially be offered as a progression post with the provision for the successful candidate to progress to band 6 when they have developed the required skills and competencies. It is envisaged that this would take a minimum of 18 months post qualification. This post would be suitable for an existing band 5 or 6 SLT looking to extend their experience in different clinical areas. We would also consider newly qualified practitioners in a development role.

Main duties of the job

Based within the Adult SLT Team at Warrington Hospital, the post will offer the opportunity to work both in the Community and on the Stroke Unit.

Ideally, we are looking for an experienced SLT with strong clinical skills, including a keen interest in aphasia and the ability to practice dysphagia independently.

You will have good knowledge of up to date assessment and treatment procedures for the adult population and will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in working with adults in the acute setting.

You will have regular access to informal support from senior colleagues, as well as formal supervision.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are required. You will have achieved a recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree or equivalent qualification and Health professions Council Licence to practice.
