We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and progressive Outpatient team, with amazing opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills within a friendly, supportive team. The successful candidate will join our established outpatient hand therapy service, providing musculoskeletal and rheumatology assessment, advice and treatment to patients referred by Trauma, Orthopaedic, Rheumatology, GPs, AHPs, FCPs and ED Advanced practitioners. We have excellent comm unication with the consultants and other members of the MDT.

This post holder will be responsible for delivering trauma and orthopaedic Occupational Therapy services with some overlap of rheumatology hand therapy services, which would currently be based at Warrington Hospital. However, you may be required to work across site at times, dependent on the needs of the service.

Full time working would be preferred, however part time candidates and those willing to job share will also be considered.

Main duties of the job

Ideally, you will have experience working within the field of hand therapy, and be able to demonstrate a high

level of clinical reasoning and skills within this area, although a training post would be considered for band 5s wishing to branch out into a speciality team and service.

The duties of the candidate will be, provide assessments, advice, and treatment for your own case load. Therefore, you would be expected to have skills and knowledge in assessment and treatment planning, bespoke and orthotic splint provision, and other treatment modalities in line with current national guidelines for hand therapy.

You will be required to provide supervision and undertake leadership tasks. We offer excellent team support and regular informal and formal supervision with experienced clinicians.

CPD is offered in the form of regular in-service training, internal and external courses.

Evidence of previous involvement with audit and student education is desirable

About us

We are a friendly and supportive team of experienced therapists, assistant practitioners, admin staff and volunteers.

The team treats patients with acute and chronic Musculoskeletal and Rheumatology conditions, including post-operative therapy for trauma and elective procedures.

We are currently based across two sites, Warrington, and Halton Hospitals.

Our facilities include 1:1 treatment areas, on both sites, plus a fully equipped heavy and light workshop facility at Halton. We deliver interventions across both sites in the form of 1:1 sessions and group sessions.
