Job summary

This position is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a talent for improvement to take WHH (Warrington and Halton Hospitals) to a new level of achievement. The post holder will have a key role in delivery of the organisations' quality and improvement priorities as described in our Quality Strategy. It is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to gain experience within WHH's Quality Academy and will deliver a key role in supporting quality improvement work across the organisation. This post will be offered on a fixed term temporary contract or secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover a maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

WHH's Quality Academy works to improve quality for people in hospital through a programme of quality improvements, research, innovations, data, training and collaboration. The Academy is based at the Warrington Hospital and includes a small core team of improvement staff, alongside Clinical Audit, Effectiveness, Research & Development, and Knowledge & Library Services.

The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Lead will work with partners across the Quality Academy and wider Trust to design, deliver and evaluate quality improvement programmes, incorporating an agreed improvement plan and the associated measurement and monitoring strategy to track progress and demonstrate continuous improvements in healthcare service delivery.

The post holder will work closely with the wider QI team providing leadership and QI expertise to ensure delivery of a portfolio of work focused on driving continuous improvement at service levels. They will need to build strong relationships with Trust stakeholders and partner organisations including clinical and nonclinical services.

They will also support the vision to grow a culture of continuous improvement, learning and innovation at the Trust through the delivery of training on Quality Improvement methods/tools, providing improvement expertise to the Clinical Business Units, and engage with other teams across all areas of the Quality Academy.

  • A degree level qualification in management, or a related subject (health studies, human factors, quality improvement, project management) and/or relevant work experience

  • Experience of working within a senior/leadership role within the acute sector in the NHS
  • Experience of Managing QI projects using QI methodology and tools and conduct small-scale change using PDSA cycles
  • Experience of delivering QI trainings and training evaluation process
  • Leading and supporting multidisciplinary working to achieve improvement results
  • Evidence of coaching or mentoring quality improvement projects, preferably within health or care sector or equivalent experience

  • Experience of working in organisations other than the acute sector in the NHS, e.g. CCG/Place/ICB, Local Government and or voluntary sector or substantial experience of joint working
