Orthotics Assistant

Job summary

We have an opportunity for a Band 3 Orthotic assistant to join our Orthotics team at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The position will be at the Warrington site, however occasional cross site working may be required.

You will work in a small administrative team to provide comprehensive clerical support to the clinical team who provide a specialist orthotic service across the Warrington and Halton area. In addition, the post holder will be given the opportunity to develop basic clinical skills, providing simple orthotic products and to advance this new Orthotic assistant role with support and competency-based learning.

Main duties of the job

Your key responsibilities will include: -

Referral, appointment and waiting list management.

Resolving telephone enquiries from patients, staff, and other health/social care professionals

Orthotic product ordering and ensuring all products arrive in a timely manner.

Fitting of simple orthotic products, following agreed plans of care.

Providing orthotic product advice to the patients under the supervision of the clinical team.

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience or knowledge (with willingness to complete NVQ level 3 following appointment)

  • Previous work experience in health/social care/teaching setting.
  • Able to describe previous experience of working in a therapy setting.
  • o be able to provide relevant supporting evidence of previous role in therapy setting such as a portfolio, completed personal review forms, up to date mandatory training record, etc.
  • Prior use of the Lorenzo patient administration system
