Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible, and well-motivated individual who wishes to further their pharmacy career within the NHS as a Senior Pharmacy Assistant.
The position is varied and will include receipt and correct storage of drugs, stock control, including stock rotation, stock checks and removal of expired stock. The supply of drugs including ward stock replenishment, inputting of orders onto computer systems and assembly of orders. Managing the supply of emergency drug boxes, receiving and processing telephone calls, delivery of stock to wards. Accurately dispensing prescriptions. Assisting with receipt of prescriptions from clients and patients. Assisting with the input of medicines received. Managing non receipt of medicines and action damaged medicines received from wholesalers and manufactures.
The successful candidate will have experience working as a pharmacy assistant within a healthcare setting, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills with a good standard of education. NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills and GCSE grade C in Mathematics (or equivalent) are essential.
Main duties of the job
The main duties will include - supervision and line management of Pharmacy Assistants including performing yearly appraisals. Accuracy checking assembled stock top ups which have been outputted from our automated pharmacy dispensing system or picked by pharmacy assistants prior to delivery. Receipt and correct storage of drugs, stock control, including stock rotation, stock checks and removal of expired stock according to Trust policy. Supply of drugs including ward stock replenishment, inputting of orders onto computer system and assembly of orders from location or pharmacy robot in accordance with documentation. Contributing to the management of a safe system for the supply of emergency drug boxes. Receiving and processing telephone calls. Delivery of stock to wards. Accurately dispensing prescriptions under the supervision of a Senior Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist. Assist in the reception area with receipt of prescriptions from clients and patients in accordance with department policies. Assist the procurement team with input of medicines received onto the pharmacy computer system, manage non receipt of medicines and action damaged medicines with wholesalers and manufactures. Maintain record keeping by appropriately filing procurement paperwork.
