Job summary

Help us deliver the best in local maternity services. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Womens Health Division of Warrington and Halton Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible support workers to join in our team.

Main duties of the job

Enhanced Maternity Support Workers (MCoCs) will work proactively within a continuity team to support and offer women individualised additional care packages. This is to support health and equalities improved outcomes. Working in collaboration with all members of the team; enhanced MCoCs assist in the planning and delivery, of health improvement, additional breastfeeding support, mental health and wellbeing, social prescribing. The successful applicant will need to work across communities, public sector, and private sector to provide additional support with health lifestyle choices. This will support in improving outcomes for women and babies.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with members of the public.
  • Experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering clinical and or personal care.

Desirable

  • Previous care experience within a maternity care setting.
  • Experience of independent community midwifery working under the supervision of a midwife.
  • Experience of working with pregnant women and their families.
  • Evidence of supporting breastfeeding.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Literate and numerate, Basic Skills Maths and English Level 1 (GCSE A to G) or a Level 1 pass in the LTHT designated literacy and numeracy assessment.
  • Literate and numerate , Basic Skills Maths and English Level 1 (GCSE A to G) or a Level 1 pass in the LTHT designated literacy and numeracy assessment.
  • The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the jobholder must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 6 months of employment, it may be necessary to complete additional modules within the first 12 months of employment to comply with Trust core module requirements.
  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social care, Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support, or equivalent health care related qualifications.
  • Equivalent experience relates to a maternity related Band 2 post with an obligation to complete the relevant qualification within the first 12 months of employment.

Desirable

  • Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post.
  • Willingness to undertake Trust Competency Pathway ,parts applicable to staff group.
  • Evidence of breastfeeding support training.
