Job summary
The Breast Screening Administrative team consists of the Breast screening Officer Manager, 2 medical secretaries/pathway co-ordinators, data co-ordinator, High Risk Clerical Officer, Support Secretary & clerical booking officers. The administrative team is based in Kendrick Wing at Warrington Hospital.
In 2021 the clinical team moved into our new, purpose built base - The Breast Care Centre, which is situated within The Captain Sir Tom Moore (CSTM) building at Halton Hospital, Runcorn. Our centre consists of two Mammography Rooms, 2 Ultrasound rooms and 3 clinic rooms.We have also recently expanded our Breast Screening service at Bath Street Health and Wellbeing Centre in the centre of Warrington.
In addition to this we have just purchased a brand new state of the art Breast Screening mobile unit, which visits 5 locations within the area.
Warrington & Halton Hospital Breast Screening Department is looking to recruit an "amazing" Improving Screening Uptake Officer. This is an exciting new post, funded by NHS England for 2 years. This may be offered as a secondment to a suitably qualified candidate. NHSE will require the successful candidate to produce and submit quarterly reports to demonstrate that the required criteria are being met.The post holder will be responsible for supporting improved uptake rates of breast screening and reducing unwarranted variation in uptake by different population groups in order to reduce health inequalities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for GP Practices and community groups, provide comprehensive advice and support for health care professionals and wider organisations to improve the uptake of breast screening.
As an Improving Screening Uptake Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service, supporting the Programme Manager and Screening staff across the breast screening programme.
The post holder will focus on improving the uptake of breast screening across the programme geography (Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley).
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking, individual who will work as an integral part of the team to deliver a high level of patient care required by the National Health Service Breast Cancer Screening Programme for Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley Breast Screening Service.

- Support eligible individuals to navigate the screening pathway particularly those who may require reasonable adjustments to address any barriers to access.
- Use screening programme data to identify GP practices with low uptake rates and work directly with colleagues in these practices, e.g. Care Co-ordinators, Care Navigators, to support more individuals to take up the offer of screening.
- Identify reasons for non-attendance across the screening programme and discuss with the programme team any changes that may help to address these in order to support improved uptake rates.
- Maintain an up to date and accurate record of work undertaken to improve uptake.
- Be a member of the Improving Uptake Screening Workers network to share learning/ideas and best practice across programmes
