Torbay and South Devon (Community & Pathway-Based Role)

Includes 3PA supporting Crisis Resolution and Home treatment Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join Children and Family Health Devon as a locality based Community Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working in Torbay and South Devon. The role is based within a vibrant multidisciplinary service and offers the opportunity to develop psychiatry practice and special interests while enjoying the best of what Devon has to offer. The post is not a crisis only role; while it includes three programmed activities dedicated to the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, this work is undertaken as part of a shared consultant model, with responsibilities distributed across a wider consultant group. The remainder of the role is focused on core community CAMHS work across mental health pathways. Applications from candidates wishing to work less than full time are welcome.

The Location

The post is aligned to the Torbay and South Devon locality, working across community CAMHS teams and pathways, with flexibility around clinical bases within the area.

We are seeking a candidate who is able to start immediately, ideally by 1 May 2026. This post is offered as a 3month locum contract.

Main duties of the job

This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant seeking a balanced community role with opportunities for pathway leadership, service development, and collaborative working. We welcome applications from enthusiastic and forward-thinking consultants who are keen to contribute to high quality, evidence-based care and to take on a leading clinical role within a multidisciplinary service. You will be motivated, team-focused, and committed to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families, while bringing innovation and thoughtful development to clinical practice.

About Us

You will be joining a CQC rated Good service with a strong and well-established workforce of Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists across Devon and Torbay. Devon CAMHS is part of Children and Family Health Devon, an integrated service delivering health, social care, and education provision for children and young people. We operate a pathway-based model to ensure equity of access and consistency of care across the county, and we place strong emphasis on prevention, early intervention, and evidence based, outcomes focused practice. The service actively supports consultants to develop and pursue special interests and to provide medical and clinical leadership within areas of expertise, working closely with consultant colleagues across pathways.
