Clinical Team Manager

Job summary

The post holder will ensure delivery of key service elements within Older Peoples Mental Health Services, which will include line management and taking a lead role in an area of service effectiveness. They will provide effective professional clinical leadership through appropriate modelling of behaviours and skills and/or direct supervision.

Main duties of the job

  • Be linked to and work closely with the community clusters to facilitate a seamless service between Devon Partnership NHS Trust and partner agencies.
  • Work closely with key external personnel including, Police, Housing, Voluntary and non-statutory agencies and a wider Health and Social Care Community.
  • Ensure close liaison with primary health care staff and commissioning officers regarding referral criteria into the services and quality standards and ensure targets from the National Framework are met.
  • Liaise with professional stakeholder groups and interface service providers and agencies to develop mutually helpful working relationships.
  • Undertake formal counselling either on a 1:1 or a group basis.
  • Present information, some of which may be contentious, to staff groups, service user groups, carers groups and other stakeholders using a range of techniques and media.
  • Investigate complaints, grievances and performance issues taking remedial action as necessary.
  • To be a part of the relevant professional leadership group (nursing, OT, social work) and attend its meetings.
  • To link with the relevant professional lead (nurse, OT, social worker) within Devon Partnership Trust.

  • An excellent understanding of the Mental Health Act/ Mental Health Capacity Act and Care Act requirements.
  • Awareness of community structures and social care options and processes
  • Understanding of recovery principles in Mental Health
  • An understanding of the sorts of issues experienced by older people with mental health problems
  • Working within a community mental health or inpatient setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector.
  • Providing clinical supervision and managing staff.

Desirable

  • Substantial experience of working at a senior clinical/practice level.
  • Budget management.
  • Setting up or working within a new service.

Qualifications

  • A professional qualification, eg RMN, OT, Social Worker.
  • IT Skills
