Job summary

Are you a resilient, organised, calm and enthusiastic professional who is keen to make a difference in an inpatient Eating Disorder service?

We are looking for a full time band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our small psychology team who work closely with the wider MDT.

The role takes a lead on developing sensory and emotional regulation plans with patients, running the skills group, and ensuring all the outcome measures are completed and data disseminated. The role also involves developing mindfulness and stabilisation skills 1:1 and in groups with patients , joining team formulations and patient review meetings. After training the role also can involve delivering individual sessions with patients which can focus on areas such as exposure work or relationships with their body.

The role has been developed over the last few years with a balance of individual work, groups, outcome measures and service development, broader staff support as well as space for personal development. The inpatient environment requires the psychology team to be flexible, creative, responsive yet also boundried and compassionate. As such we have really good support to enable us to provide this service.

The Haldon is a 10 bedded inpatient unit supporting people from across the South West region and working closely with the Eating Disorder Outreach Team.

  • Developing individual sensory and emotional regulation plans
  • Developing and delivering skills group
  • Ensuring outcome measures are completed and data disseminated to senior leadership
  • Individual mindfulness, stabilisation and focused work e.g. exploring relationship with body or exposure work.

The principal purpose of this job is to support the team to improve the psychological health and wellbeing of people within the Haldon Eating Disorder Service and the Eating Disorder Outreach Team and their families.

This will be achieved in this post through undertaking the following areas of responsibility:

1. Under supervision, contributing to psychological assessment and individual, family or group interventions as appropriate.

2. Under supervision, contribute to the multidisciplinary therapeutic programme on the Haldon and the Eating Disorder Outreach Team (EDOT).

3. Providing support to the Haldon Eating Disorder and EDOT Senior Leadership Team in terms of developing and undertaking additional audit and research activities4. Supporting clinical staff to improve the quality and efficiency of reporting on Clinician Rated Outcome Measures, Patient Rated Outcome Measures and Patient Rated Experience Measures within the Haldon Eating Disorder Service and EDOT.

5. The post holder will receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy and with Professional Practice Guidelines set out by HCPC and the British Psychological Society.

6. The post holder will work within professional guidelines and DPT procedures and protocols.

7. The post holder will be supported by qualified psychological professionals, including Clinical Psychologists and by senior colleagues within the specialism. The post holder will be expected to make good use of the expertise of others within the service to further develop their skills.

  • BA or BSc in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society such that candidate is able to apply for Graduate Basis of Registration with BPS.

Experience

Desirable

  • 1. Experience of working under psychological clinical supervision in secondary care adult mental health services
  • 2. Experience, and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality.
