Job summary
Devon Partnership NHS Trust is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist to join our Adult Mental Health Service in Mid Devon.
Based at Tiverton Hospital, this 0.8 WTE post sits within the psychology and psychological therapies service of the Core Adult Mental Health Team, working across the Mid Devon locality. We are a friendly, values-driven department with a strong commitment to promoting psychological approaches to mental distress and delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
You will work alongside a diverse and skilled team of therapists and applied psychologists, offering individual, group and family interventions. Our service draws on a rich range of therapeutic models including CBT, DBT, CAT, EMDR, Group Analysis, Systemic Family Therapy, Arts Therapies and other integrative approaches.
The role involves providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy for adults with complex mental health needs, alongside consultation to teams, supervision of staff, and contributing to service development. As part of the clinical team, you will support the Professional Lead with clinical governance, service evaluation and waiting list management.
This post is professionally managed and offers excellent support, including peer supervision, CPD events and regular team meetings. There are strong links with local DClinPsy training courses, and opportunities to support trainee placements and supervision.
Main duties of the job
- Applicants must be fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- To work closely with colleagues in the multi-professional integrated mental health and wellbeing service on a day to day basis.
- To provide support & guidance in the application of psychological principles and techniques, and to foster reflective practice.
- To provide psychology/therapy knowledge to the multi-professional planning, development and marketing of mental health and wellbeing services.
- To provide psychological therapies/other therapies, developing specialist psychological formulations and assessments of clients, formulating plans for their psychological treatment and implementing specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups.
- To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about assessment, treatment and discharge, including the management of risk. To formulate plans for psychological treatment and implementing specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups and to demonstrate awareness of diversity issues.
- To provide advice, guidance and consultation on psychological aspects of patient care to colleagues, other service providers, patients, supporters and families.
- To support proposed changes for policy and for service development.
- To supervise the work of assistants &/or trainees as required.
